Redvale Landfill was one of the first privately owned landfills developed at a time when it was primarily the responsibility of Council authorities. It was developed as New Zealand’s most modern landfill, bringing in new engineering techniques for the construction and then management of solid waste.
The landfill gas is captured in pipes and flows to 14, one megawatt generators, to produce electricity which goes to the national grid with enough to power approximately 11,500 homes.
Landfill operators who accept municipal waste are participants in New Zealand’s Emissions Trading Scheme and must annually account for the methane emissions from their landfill.
We provide Verification Services to Waste Management NZ Ltd to ensure their obligations against the required New Zealand regulations.
